There is no better place to be a UK HR professional than in the Civil Service. What we do affects everyone in the country. The 500 000 people that make up the Civil Service come from diverse backgrounds and represent almost every skill and profession. Globalisation means that more of the Government’s objectives will only be delivered through collaboration.
Think climate change, energy, food prices, migration, counter-terrorism etc; we need to deliver increasingly more complex services with ever diminishing resources.
And HR can make a difference to the way the Civil Service does business. We need to deliver our HR services efficiently, develop effective leaders and build a capable and flexible workforce.
Three things that are key to our success as a profession:
• understanding the business we are supporting;
• working collaboratively across departments – on activities that are of common interest, sharing best practice and learning from each other;
• building our capability as HR practitioners, including skills and career opportunities.
The HR Graduate Programme is committed to HR professionalism and can offer stretching and valuable work experience whilst at the same time fully supporting your professional capability development via Chartered Institute of Personnel.
