Graduates seeking a position with Accenture will start out by joining the Analyst Consulting Group. This position usually lasts anywhere from 2 to 3 years, at which point most analysts are promoted to higher positions in the company. This group is designed to help build the skill sets of graduates, grooming them to step into the dynamic, high-pressure operations of the company. Analysts have access to top of the line training programs and will work closely with peers as they prepare for taking on the full consulting responsibilities. Positions in this group are very highly demanded – in some cases the wait lists for a position can be well over a year.
Being part of the Analyst Consulting Group offers exposure to a wide variety of real-life work situations. You may find yourself traveling to many different locations; interacting with many different types of companies and helping them improve their operations. In order to be successful in this program, you’ll need to be highly adaptable and open-minded, ready to take on any opportunity.
There are many other ways to get involved with Accenture and launch your career with the company. Among these opportunities is the Summer Vacation Scheme, which starts in July and runs through to August. This internships program gives participants a taste of what Accenture does on a daily basis. Unlike some similar programs, interns become full-on team members rather than merely subordinates. There is a wide variety of different tasks to undertake, but a lot to learn – not to mention a decent salary to be earned.
A similar program offered by Accenture is the Navigator program, which lasts for nine weeks starting in September. It starts with a week of training and then immerses its participants (who are usually graduates who want to test the waters in this sort of company) fully into the day-to-day business. Again, a healthy salary is offered, and those who excel in the program are often offered long-term positions with the company.
A more in-depth program is the Horizons scheme, which is designed for people who want to take a little bit of time off before leaping into the industry. Participants will spend eight months working closely within the Accenture consultancy, before having four months (and a pocket full of money) to spend time traveling or pursuing other interests before fully embarking on their career.
Being such a dynamic company, it’s no surprise that there are a lot of ways to start your career with them. Choose which one suits you the best and join this thriving team of professionals.
