How Can I Get A Teaching Job?

I graduated from college in 1983 with a degree in education. I am certified in elementary education but have never taught full time. I have only substitute taught. I have applied for several teaching assistant postions. I don’t even get called for an interview. How can I update my experience to get a teaching position?
