I live in California and am currently attending Cal State Long Beach. I will be going into my second year and wish to pursue a career in Accounting. I know the UC system doesn’t offer Accounting as an undergraduate major. My concern is that a degree from a CSU will not be as prestigious. Any advice? Should I complete my 2nd year and transfer out? What route will increase my chances of landing a rewarding job after I graduate?

If the UC system doesn’t offer your major, then you should consider a transfer. Prestige isn’t super important, so long as the school that you attend for accounting is regionally accredited. That accreditation standard is key, the rest is just for show. Accounting is a great field, and if you get your CPA, you should be immediately employable, whether your school was “prestigious” or not.
