What Details Do You Add In A Synopsis?

When looking to get a story published and you send a synopsis in a cover letter, do you tell the entire plot or just what would be on the back cover?

Synopsis shouldn’t have major details so that the read will be bored.Introduce where they are, the main character, and the problem. The first sentence should be a set up. A good one intrigues the reader. Then is a hook. A good one along with a good set-up will make the reader want more. Then, the rest is his “adventure” of solving the problem. Not giving away the climax or ending though

    Tell the entire plot.
Introduce your characters and as you describe the plot, make sure you emphasize how it blends with your characters’ goals, motivations and conflicts.
And yes, tell the ending. Never leave a cliff-hanger in your synopsis.
