What Is The Point Of Studying For A Degree?

Unless it’s actually to be used for a job later on (have heard stories about graduates doing jobs for which you barely need GCSEs)? What about the mountain of debt it’s likely to result in?

    I agree to some extent.
Ask yourself why graduates doing jobs you barely need GCSE’s. Why? Because they put in no effort and think it is easy.
Yes, you will get in debt, and it’ll probably take a while to get out of it, unless you use a student loan and pay it off bit by bit whilst you are working as a student.
I plan everything out BEFORE I buy things, especially when they aren’t what I need – like new clothes, accessories for my car, alcohol, nights out etc.
The whole ‘’student life” is VERY over-rated, which is probably the main cause of students being in debt.
The university fees are very easy to pay off, and shouldn’t be seen as debt. It is the un-necessary over spending on rubbish things that is debt.

Yours is a very negative question. Once you have your degree, your career can take the path that you choose. IT DOES NOT RESULT IN A MOUNTAIN OF DEBTS. Graduates actually pay back when they can afford it. If you spend time talking to graduates, as and when. The most important thing is that you get a place at uni and go and study. Why not do it and get your degree?

If you have no ambition to succeed in a really good career then don’t bother! I know the debt is a bit of a bind but job satisfaction can come by getting the right job which degrees can help towards so you really need to balance out the pros and cons and decide for yourself which is more important to you.

tI depends whether or not you want to get a job which will require you to have a degree. You’re right that some jobs don’t need you to have one, but if you are aiming to do a particular job which needs one, you have to get one, don’t you?

A degree is something you are proud of as it proves that you worked hard to acheive something.. plus, in the modern world, it’s one of most important factors to secure you a job… yes you will have debts, but with some wisdom and some tight budget you can get over it really quckly.. read about today’s millionairs who started from scratch.. most of them worked hard to get degrees..

Im in first year uni – theres no real mountain of debt if you keep on top of things like getting a job on your holidays or even while your there
solid degrees like engineering or medicine usually do lead to good jobs, just the crappy courses like pshycology and art & design that people end up being bin men etc
